ADVANCED REGULATORY CONTROL TRAINING

Classroom, on-line (live) or self-paced training in practical industrial process control 

APC 200: Online training

The DCS and PLC have many powerful features that still remain under-utilized. This course gives you a training on PID tuning, it shows you how to build powerful optimizing controllers inside the DCS or PLC. The course explains in detail the when and how of control techniques like cascade, feedforward, constraint override, maximizing and minimizing constraint controllers, model-based controllers and dead-time compensators.

This online APS training exists in two versions:
  • 5 interactive webinar sessions of 2 hours each
  • Online videos that can be watched at your own rythm over the course of a week. Students can call instructor at specific hours for clarifications.
Besides the 10 hours spent in the webinar, participants are expected to spend an additional 12 to 16 hours for exercises and tests. These exercises and tests could be made during or after the training, since each participant will receive a 7 day temporary license to our process control software products.

  • Using dead-time compensators
  • Using virtual sensors, aka soft sensors
  • When to use which type of model based control?

DAY 4

  • How to identify transfer functions based on closed-loop data?
  • Practical lab sessions using PITOPS
  • Model-predictive control

DAY 5

  • ​When to use Advanced Regulatory Control (APC) or Model Predictive Control (e.g. DMC, RMPCT,...)?
  • Debugging and troubleshooting PID and control room problems
  • Online PID/APC control quality monitoring and reporting

AFTER THE TRAINING YOU ARE ABLE TO:

  • ​Design and build powerful controllers in any DCS/PLC
  • Calculate DCS parameters precisely
  • Activate and commission new control schemes carefully

EXTRA INFORMATION

The course is given in English. Furthermore, participants must have access to a windows computer with Microsoft Excel and internet connection suited for attending WebEx or GoToMeeting webinars. 

Registration needs to be completed two weeks before start date and is only complete when full payment has been received. 
Cancellation: Full refund will happen if cancellation request is made at least one month before start date. 50% refund if cancellation is made at least one week before start date. No refund if cancellation request is made less than one week before  start date.
